My brother and I travelled to Paris from London and stayed at Maison Souquet last week. The hotel is exceptional. From the moment you walk through the door, you are greeted by friendly staff. Upon check-in, we received a tour of the hotel’s main rooms. It is an intimate and lavish setting. You are transported back in time by its 19th century decor; the Hotel had once been a high end brothel and the Hotel honors that history by its efforts to decorate in the style that would have been used at that time. The guilded walls, stained glass and marble surfaces give a rich inviting feel. There is sort of an Egyptian vibe in the lobby which makes sense for the time period in France. The hotel bar, well adorned in red velvet (as is the rest of the hotel’s first floor), is run by an attentive bar staff who expertly craft all manner of drink. You feel as if you’ve found a secret spot, because you have. Breakfast choices were more than adequate and the food was excellent; for us the cheese plate with fresh bread was the favorite. The guest rooms are beautiful, each one slightly different and honored with the name of an actual former woman of the night. Honoring these women seemed appropriate and necessary. It is located in a great part of Paris, right down the road from the Moulin Rouge and metro stop, but far enough away to still be quiet. If you don’t know about the Hotel, you could miss it from the street. The Hotel is small (just 20 rooms) but that enables the staff to provide the guests they have with extra special care. We can’t wait to go back!

This hotel is in an great location very close to Moulin Rouge and it's unique feature is that you can book their private pool and steam room (they call it a spa) for 1 hour a day while you're staying there. It's located under ground but is very nicely decorated, although a bit bare. Book it before you travel as the slots get filled every day and you won't want to miss it. Our biggest issue with this hotel was that we expected much better room facilities from a five star hotel. I mean you don't even get tea/coffee facilities and no iron or ironing board. Also being a spa hotel you would expect better toiletries in the room and some options for the "spa" even if you have to pay for them. So if you're planning to use the "spa" then make sure to take your own products as none are provided. In the spa there is no option for background music which in my opinion is another shortcoming to make the guest experience better. In one evening we dined at the lovely restaurant and that was great. All the food was prepared from preserved produce so no cooking but it was still very delicious and the decor is just lovely.

We were treated like Royalty from the very start. I have never experienced such amazing service from staff. Everyone was so kind, friendly and professional and they all went out of their way to accommodate us. The decor and attention to detail within the hotel is amazing. It's worth just sitting and soaking up the luxury! We had a few games of cards and snacks abd drinks at the bar which was so fun and enjoyable. The facilities are amazing. Everything you could possibly need is catered for, you need only ask. I genuinely didn't know it was possible to feel that relaxed and pampered!! The spa pool and steam room was just the most relaxing and luxurious experience, an hour of swimming and reclining in the steam - perfect. The history of the place was so fascinating. The fact we were basically opposite the Moulin Rouge was soooo exciting! Everything about this hotel was what dreams are made of. I really couldn't believe such a wonderful experience exists and we were lucky enough to experience it.

Everything about my stay here was perfect, from walking in and being warmly greeted by Sarah, who took me through the hotel and explained its compelling history, to being shown to my room with a complimentary delicious refreshment. The room itself blew me away (first time I've stayed anywhere this nice), the furnishings were stunning and the bath was huge - had to have one immediately. Had a drink in the hotel bar and it was also beautiful, as was the service, before going to the private pool and steam room which was an experience I'd never had before! In the morning the breakfast served in bed (or downstairs if you prefer) was tasty and fresh and a real treat :) Had the best birthday there and would definitely recommend this romantic hotel with perfect service.

Breakfast was classic French and very good. The staff responded very precisely to our wishes, although the menu was quite manageable, everyone was able to find something to start the morning with. Everything was very fresh: mini crossaints, baguette (a bit hard) but still delicious, freshly made eggs in all variations, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee and hot chocolate to lay in. The staff was always very careful that we didn't need anything and responded to our every wish, no matter how complex it seemed. My wife has back problems, so she generally has trouble sleeping, but in the two nights she slept like on clouds 10 out of 10 in terms of sleep quality.
